Freudenberg Nonwovens is exhibiting its latest eco-friendly products in the Advanced Textiles Section of the IFAI Specialty Fabrics Expo and the Advanced Textiles Conference & Trade Show. This year’s IFAI Expo will be co-located with Specialty Graphics Imaging Association (SGIA) in Orlando, FL from October 22-25. Several unique materials will be showcased including Evolon printing substrates, Lutradur ECO and a variety of other nonwoven products. These innovative products are offered globally under Freudenberg Nonwovens slogan “The Solution Engineers – Wherever you are.” “The products we are showing are examples of high quality, innovative approach to environmentally sustainable manufacturing processes and products. Thanks to the minimal environmental impact, Evolon and Lutradur ECO represent a sustainable alternative material for diverse market applications,” says John McNabb, general manager. Evolon, a unique microfilament fabric, is an eco-friendly innovative printing media for wide-format graphics and advertising. It offers printers a blend of three key success factors; impeccable printing results, inspirational versatility and improved eco-profile all in one media solution. Suitable for indoor or outdoor use, Evolon is weather resistant and offers UV-protection. It is made from PVC-free raw materials in a clean manufacturing process with no solvents, using recycled water (ISO 14001 and ISO50001 certified). Evolon is suitable for use of eco-friendly inks for printing. It can be landfilled or incinerated with no emission of halogenous substances and is recyclable as a textile. Evolon has a wide variety of applications including signs, banners, roll-up displays, wall coverings, shades and blinds, decorative items and many more. Lutradur ECO is made with Repreve recycled PET resin which is made with the highest quality standards in the industry. Lutradur ECO has outstanding product properties such as dimensional stability, high temperature resistance, non-fray properties and surface uniformity. Lutradur ECO is suitable for many applications, including wall covering substrates, carpet backing, landscape and geotextiles, green roof systems, building & construction, coating and printing substrates, and many other end uses. In an ambitious drive to reach zero manufacturing waste in its North American facilities, Freudenberg North America’s 15 businesses have committed to increasingly pursue industrial processes that focus on recycled product content, plant recycling, lower water and energy consumption and increased use of sustainable materials over the next decade. “New environmental challenges and our long-standing corporate culture are driving the development of innovations that will continue to improve the environmental sustainability of our products and plants,” says Leesa Smith, Freudenberg North America president and regional representative. “These new nonwoven products are a perfect example of products that have excellent performance characteristics and are also environmentally friendly.”
